Stride Houston collects donated orthopedic devices — crutches, walkers, braces, and more — and gives them free to uninsured patients across Harris and Fort Bend County who need them most.
Every year, thousands of Houston-area patients undergo orthopedic surgery — and then go home without the basic equipment they need to heal. A walker. A knee brace. A pair of crutches.
For uninsured and low-income patients in Harris and Fort Bend County, these devices are simply out of reach. Stride Houston exists to change that — by connecting donated equipment with the people who need it most, completely free of charge.
Greater Houston has the largest medical complex in the world. We believe it can also lead in compassion.
We accept gently used orthopedic assistive devices in good or fair condition. Your unused equipment could be someone else's recovery.
Simple, fast, and entirely free for patients who need it.
Drop off your gently used orthopedic devices at one of our Houston-area partner locations, or contact us to arrange a pickup.
Every device is inspected for safety and cleaned before distribution. Only devices in good or fair condition are passed on.
Uninsured and low-income patients in Harris and Fort Bend County receive the equipment they need — 100% free, no questions asked.
"No one should go home from surgery without the tools they need to recover — regardless of what they can afford."
Stride Houston was founded by Nivriti, a Houston high school student and aspiring orthopedic surgeon. Inspired by the gap she saw between surgical care and at-home recovery for uninsured patients, she launched Stride Houston to put donated equipment directly into the hands of those who need it.
Serving Harris and Fort Bend County — two of the most populous and medically underserved areas in Texas — Nivriti saw an opportunity to bridge a real, tangible gap in her own community.
